No I did not have it chained. There a guard rail behind the parking spot, but it's too far from the curb, and the chain I have doesn't reach that far. The most I could have done is chain the bike to a light post, but I'd first have to get the bike on the curb, but all around the light post is all gravel.
I've been wanting to the 2 way scorpio system for the bike, but with my just passed (Sunday) wedding expenses, I couldn't afford it. I was even thinking of installing lo-jack. Too late for that!

"There are at least three other bikes in the complex where I live, and none of them were touched...It's not a traffic-ed area. It's a complex with one entrance and one exit. It's really a low-key town."
I've never heard of such a thing, damn, I'd be pissed beyond recognition...seems a bit ironic regarding those other bikes, did the police interview them?
I hope the ins. covers the second one...

I'll see how this goes, and plan on getting something else if I can financially this summer.

I don't think the police interviewed them since this happened at about 2am. But I did see them checking one of the other bikes because it had a cover on it.

Let me rephrase that. There are two entrances/exits. You can go in and out through each way.

The first bike wasn't stolen at home, it was stolen by work where I decided to leave it in an outside parking lot overnight because it was fenced in, and a card is needed to get in.
This time around, It's where I just moved about two months ago. I've lived in that area before, it's really not a bad area, but that really doesn't matter when it comes to bikes since they're so portable.
Oh well... I guess I'll have to budget for lo-jack, GPS, dual transmitter alarm before I even think about getting the next bike. I was about 15-20 yards away from the bike when it was stolen. I just didn't know it was being stolen.
and I was just starting to feel comfortable about not having a garage to park it in! Oh well.

FYI, GPS trackers don't work inside a van.
