Default LED Plate light mod.

Due to the undertail that I use and the location of my plate coming up with a license plate light was sort of tricky. My solution… Drill into the tail light lens and install a couple of white LED’s to shine down on it.

The LED’s installed…

On…

A few feet back…

I’m happy with the outcome and this should get me through state inspection now.

Excellent thinking, MacGuyver would be proud...Did you use anything to seal up round the edges?

Been there, done that. Cool mod, see below. Also converted the stock taillight to LEDs by grafting a 600RR led board into the top half of the light for running light (low). On the bottom half I indtalled 3, 30 LED boards for the brake light which comes on with the upper half on (high). I installed 2 white LEDs facing down such as what you did for the plate. I also found some K&S DOT legal short stalk signals(they have all the proper markings required to pass inspection) and grafted some 30 LED boards into them as well. The pic below shows both of them on as I was testing them (hard to take a pic of a signal while it is blinking!)

Here is my version with a few L brackets and light bolts. Eventually I'll swap them out for white bulbs but it was nice last weekend and I wanted to ride.

Yea, who cares, it's just something else for them to be attracted to to screw with you. So why not put 2 brain cells together and do it.

Well when i got my undertail it came with no location for a plate light. So for the last year i have used the led back/brake light as my plate light. But i think like psycho1000r im gonna pick up some of those white led plate lights to give it a little better glow.

But on a side not i did talk to a trooper about my light not being there and he told me that the back lights were bright enough for him.
