Default west virginia trip pics

three of us trailered down from the philly area wednesday night to ride around west virginia and virginia thursday and friday, and possibly saturday. the weather forecast was highs in the low 70s! very unusually warm for this time of year.

so, here's the route. approximately 782 miles. we started near the top of the shenandoah mountains/skyline drive. on the first day, we only got through approximately 320 miles since skyline drive took us a good deal of time.

the weather was simply gorgeous. we were so fortunate.

so it was just the three of us; left to right - me (r1), tony (sv), and dave (r6). it was great. we trailered to our starting point and then rode the bikes the rest of the way. it allowed us to see a lot of the roads with minimum time in the slow truck/trailer.

resting here, we wondered how long it took to build this stone wall along skyline drive...

i loved the views.

we had one minor run in with the forest ranger. he caught us going around a curve 47mph. he was coming the opposite direction. we probably would've been going faster had it not been for that big camper that was in front of us. he lights us up and so we pulled over. he let us go with a written warning. he was the nicest leo i've ever met. he was like a caring uncle telling us the dangers of the road...he says, "it's buck season, there are deer everywhere this time of year, there are wet leaves to watch out for, not to mention other tourists that might be on the side of the road taking pictures, etc. i know these bikes can go a lot faster, but this is not a race track. take it easy out there." it's a good thing he didn't catch me 20 minutes prior when i was really having some fun.

the engineer of wv roads must've been a motorcyclist at heart...

this was the last trip of my riding season. this trip was an amazing good time. i can't wait to do it again next year.
