Default Monticello Motor Club

This past Labor Day I made the 9 hour (each way) trip to Monticello, NY to do a track day. Why you ask? Primarily because we were running 2 different courses over the 2 days that made it even more worthwhile.

Sunday we rode the South Course. It's a 1.8 mile long technical course that I equate to longer Little Tally. Roughly 12 turns (they don't label like JGP) and a couple short straights intermixed with natural elevation changes.

Monday was the North Course run Counter Clockwise. Normally they don't run it CCW but since the track is still experimenting with motorcycles we tried it out. The North Course is a fast track, by my estimation it's 2.1 miles long, with 12 turns and a lot of long straights with elevation changes.

Drawbacks to both courses is the lack of run off and paddock facilities. The motor club was designed with cars in mind, but in order to improve business they are trying to bring sportbikes in. In that regard we didn't have very many crashes and the managers have improved safety features geared toward motorcycles and have plans to continue improving. The parking lot acted as our paddock and I don't know what future plans are for this.

Overall, the track is gorgeous and a lot of fun to ride. I would do it again especially when run off and better safety features are put in place.
