Opinions on construction method
Ok, so I was planning on getting a home built down here in Texas, and the builder (Meritage) uses a framing technique (a process really) called Panelized Construction. I understand some of the general benefits for doing this, but when I went on-site to inspect a current home being built and saw how badly damaged may of the "pieces" to the puzzle were damaged, I am having a change of heart. I realize that if done RIGHT, there really is nothing that bad about this method, but it looks like there was some serious negligence in the loading, transportation and/or unloading of these panels...
Another thing is that in some cases the 2x4 isnt one solid length piece. They glue multiple pieces together. In one of the examples I included, there are at least 13 small segments glued together in a wall that cant be more than 10' high.
What do you think?
