Plane was shot down.
Debris from flight 93 was found 8 miles away from the crash site in a neighboring town. When a plane hits the ground debris doesn't tumble for 8 miles.
It's a Catch 22 really, it's what they had to do after they saw what happened to the other 3 planes. But at the same time there is no way the government could explain that to it's people. So they did the next best thing, shot it down and made up a sotry that the passengers overtook and crashed it.

Why didn't they just send the Stealth Fighter up there like in executive decision and lock on it with the stealth fighters dick that comes out of the top of the plane and climb into the passenger jet and kill the bad guys?

Just movie fluff, a real F-117a stealth fighter like the one in the movie has no cargo bay to carry Steven Segal and Chuck Norris in it

Yup, they did the same thing with Payne Stewart's private jet after it lost cabin pressure and there was no response from the captain. The two jet fighters following it supposedly followed it till it ran out of fuel and crashed on it's own...sure.
"Payne Stewart Accident Information
Both pilots and all four passengers, including professional golfer and 1999 U.S. Open winner Payne Stewart, were killed in the crash of a Lear 35 jet near Mina, SD on 25 October 1999. The jet, originally on a flight from Orlando to Dallas, strayed off course over northern Florida and continued flying to the northwest until the fuel apparently ran out.
U.S. Air Force pilots reported that the cockpit windows were obscured by frost. The conditions of the windows are consistent with a loss of pressurization and a subsequent rapid drop of temperature. It is likely that the pilots and occupants may have lost consciousness due to hypoxia, or a lack of oxygen. Between the last communication between the aircraft and air traffic control and the aircraft's final descent, the aircraft was reportedly flying as high as 45,000 feet."

Agreed
However, crash an aluminum can with fuel in it into something solid (building, ground) at SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES PER HOUR and you don't get separate debris field at 2, 3 and 8 miles away from the reported crash site in Shanksville.

I don't trust anyone. Not the government, not the conspiracy theorists, and not the Russians. If I wasn't there then I don't know what the hell happened.
