Default dedicated rain tires for 1000cc bikes

I have put off getting rains for a couple of seasons for my TLR. I was web surfing and I saw that Dunlop makes a 190/55 sized rear rain tire (model KR392) which I may go after. I emailed TPM parts and asked for pricing. My alternative was to grab Pirelli rains in a 180 rear which bothered me because of the change in feel on the bike for going to a smaller rear tire.

Hopefully the price will be comparable to the Pirelli's.

Ken I was hanging out with a bunch of people talking to Glen the other day at the track and Glen said that the Knobby Rain Tires are much better than the various swirl tread. Each individual knob acts as its own grip and it can flex and move with the road to give you traction.

Chris,
I don't think any of the tire companies offer the block pattern for liter bikes. I have them for my TZ250, but the rains for larger bikes have the chevron pattern now.

why not just get a set of diablo corsa 3's? More often than not I found myself riding on a damp to wet track rather than one actually in the pouring rain. Plus if its a trackday who cares how fast you go when it's raining? Once the track got kinda dry dedicated rain tires would get ripped up anyways.

I agree with the stiffman... When it rains I go slow. No need for rains unless it's for racing...

Well the way I see it when you are paying for the day you may as well get what you want...speed. And the only way you can get almost dry lean angle in the wet are rain tires.......

During track days is when you can get use to the feel of the rain tires anyway. So if you want to race with rain tires you know what to expect.

That's a great idea...I think I'll keep my DCIII's that I have as rain tires.

I have used my rain tires only one time in the rain (at Beaverun) and was able to get both knees down in a driving rain....that ,to me, is worth the price of rains and wheels to get the type of ride I pay for by going to the track...lots more fun than limping around on tires with comprimised traction...
