Default Had a fire this morning.

My day off, I wake up to the maintainance guy screeming fire outside my apartment! The apartment next to mine was blazing. Nasty smoke damage, but thank god all my gear and bike are stored for the winter.

I just moved into an apartment last month and I found out the other day they have a nasty habit of just going up in flames. They've had 3 fires in the last 5 years. So anytime I smell something I'm like CSI trying to figure out where it's coming from.

Well that had to be a wonderful way to be woken up in the morning. I hope the people next door made it out ok.

But now that im living on my own, i think about fires all the time. I was so use to having someone else check to see if i shut stuff off and what not. Now it seems that 30 seconds after i leave im wondering "did i shut the coffee machine off" "i wonder if having the computer on for 3 days straight, will it catch on fire" and so on.

I guess im just a worrying bitch when it comes down to it.

The other guys made it out fine. Funny I was laying in bed talking to my girl when the heater kicked on and smelled like paper burning. Right then all hell broke lose. Thank god we're insured, smell is in everything.

That's right! Some people don't think about that at all till it's too late.

The appts don't have linked fire alarm security systems?

They have battery powerd smoke detectors in the appartments and halls. They went off only after the maintanance guy had been screaming to get out for a couple minutes. Youd think theyd come up with something better for $1350 per month.
