so in getting ready for my first trackday, i decided to buy a set of plastics. i got a cheap set from ebay.

i don't get ebay at work so i'm not sure if that link still works. i got my track plastics from this guy on ebay. paid about $400 shipped. the packaging was sub par. it came in a huge box, half filled with styrofoam peanuts, so the plastics were touching each other and moving around quite a bit, leaving some rub markings. but it's not a big deal for $400. since i had so much other crap to buy to get ready for my first trackday, i didn't go for the sharkskinz so many recommended. anyway, here some pics i took along the way. i don't know what brand they are.
i'm using my stock windscreen. the task of drilling a few holes seems easy enough until actually trying.
front fender is on. everything lined up pretty easily.
installing the tail, i realized that my stock undertail was cut down to size when the aftermarket was installed. so underneath, there's a gap about 4" x 6".
so here's the gap i was referring to. is it okay to leave it open like this? will it pass tech inspection? there's nothing in there except some wiring for the tail, zip tied.
not feeling the opening in the tail, i cut a thin metal sheet to fit underneath, secured by 2 zip ties. i wonder if the tech guys will have a problem with this setup.
i was saving this for last thinking it would take the most amount of time. looking back, none of it was all that difficult.
i have zip ties where the mirror block offs will go..but just need to pick up matching nuts for them.
this may be premature, but taking the plastics on and off for the occasional trackday doesn't seem like such an ordeal like some mentioned to me. i don't plan on more than 4-5 this year.
