You won't regret it. As you said, there's more frequent maintenance but top ends are pretty cheap and very easy to do. Everything about the bike is about 2-3x easier to work on than the Aprilia.

Consider getting a used Honda RS125. Tons of fun, easy on tires and about a third of the maintenance costs of a TZ or Honda RS250. The GP bikes...

To each his own. I've used WD for years and years without a noticeable change in chain life. Grit and grime clinging to the lube on a neglected chain is far worse.
