THE NEW JERSEY TRAFFIC VIOLATION POINT AND FINES SYSTEM

This stems from a PM I got. I'm not sure if I once posted something like this and I'm not sure how accurate this is, but I'll check it tomorrow against my lawyer's diary.

THE NEW JERSEY TRAFFIC VIOLATION POINT AND FINES SYSTEM
Penalties and Fines: Point Scale (Moving Violations)

Any driver who is convicted of a moving violation, including offenses committed while operating a motorized bicycle, will be assessed points for each conviction in accordance with the N.J.S.A Point Scale. MVC will automatically send an Advisory Notice if your point total is between 6 and 11. For a total of 12 or more points, MVC will issue an automatic Notice of Scheduled Suspension.

N.J.S.A. Point Scale NOTE, THIS IS FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY, PLEASE CONSULT THE N.J.S.A IN CASE THE LAW HAS CHANGED.

I'm no lawyer, I'm a paralegal. We all get distributed a book called a "Lawyer's Diary" that includes that information and other important court, state, etc. stuff.

BTW, I looked into the codes and same is accurate. My book also lists the penalties for same. If any one has any questions, please feel free to ask.

Just passing along the info.... A Tip From A Jersey Trooper, friend of the Family!

NJ is starting up a 30 day speeding ticket rally. From what was heard, every trooper assigned to this has to hand out 1 ticket every 10 to
20 minutes. They will be focusing in around this area so watch out.

Here's what he sent:

Starting this Monday, May 2, New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets, 1 million will go to pay state troopers over time. There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways.

They are the following:

I-295 north and south
I-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south
I-80 east and west I-287 north and south I-78 east and west
I-195 east and west

I-280 east and west

Rt. 130 north and south

Garden State Parkway north and south

I'm warning everyone now that 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and are bringing in all their part timers on fulltime.

Not sure how true it is but hey would hurt to be warned?

also note that in alot of "zones" fines are doubled!!!

Showing the points makes it seem not to bad,. It's the fines that are the killer! or the MVS surcharges and the amount of years you have to pay it!!!

That minor ticket that you think about pleading guilty to just to get it off your back can end up costing you alot of money. Insureance increases, etc...
