California Love

Went out to Cali for another film fest last week, and ended up renting a sportbike for two days. Awesome. I rented from sportbikerental.com. First day they had me on an '05 gixxer. It was okay (gixxer's not my thing). Second day I traded up for an '06 R6 and man did it make a difference. It was a rocket. The acceleration has so much power it inspires stupidity!

Anyway, here are a few pics... California is really beautiful, we went around up by Malibu and San Bernadino. I only wish the weather were a little nicer while we were there:

Thats pretty sweet. How much does it run to rent a sportbike out there?

Nice pics...that R6 is hot! How was it overall.....what would be your final grade after riding it? Oh, were you wearing leather underneath your jeans/pants? I noticed it on that one pic where your on the R6....

voteforguy 05-10-2006 10:51 AM

my final grade would be high. however, the r6 did feel like a toy. and the seat was a little wide and uncomfortable when you're just standing at a light. but the stock exhaust sound was great and you can really hear the intake good when you accelerate. and once you hit around the 12k in teh rpms, you suddenly find yourself at redline (17.5). its that fast.

don't know if i would get one for the street though. for the track it would be awesome. fyi: i hear the passenger seat is NOT comfortable... hehehe... or at least i heard it all the next day ;)

Why would you not get or suggest one for the street? Just wondering and getting some feedback since a friend is looking to jump on a 06-R6....

Does the renter you rented from have a location out here in the east coast? That would be great to rent and test ride a bike before purchasing...

Fun stuff....good pics...

akomplis, when I said I wouldn't recommend it for the street, what I really meant was I wouldn't get it for for the street if you live in NYC. If you live out where there are nice roads its a different story. In LA it was a great little toy to zip in and out between cars like a mofo. of course, there's also more space out there between the car lanes, and most cars actually get out of your way and seem to respect you. bikers seem to do whatever they want with freedom. totaly different experiecne

they have spots in vegas and LA only so far. I would definitely rent/test-ride and I konw a lot of other people who would... but with insurance and everything it can get pretty expensive.

Thanks for the feedback vote...
