Say Hello To My Little Friend.

Thanks to Mr Rob the install went quite well and I am really pleased with the results! Losing a tooth up front made a world of difference.
:P :nod2: :boogie:

Okay Ian.. no more getting me out of the chutes now!!

Seriously though, Bill, Kaz, Rob, Ian and others suggested this mod and I must say they were all right on the money with it.

Say hello to my little friend.

Yo Jim! Thanks for stopping by!

The blue chain and black sprockets look sweet man!

What was Rob torturing on the grinder?

IrocRob 04-12-2008 08:40 PM

The new chain was 3 full links too long, and the easiest way to
remove them is to grind the end off the link pins.

It's looks good Jim....

So what's the result of losing one on the bottom.... more low end torque?

As we all know, the 2006 R6 is pretty weak until you get to at least 9K RPMS. Going down a tooth gets the rpm's up a lot faster than stock gearing. Which is where they have to be in order to generate torque. So to answer your question... Yes.

Yes you will loose some top end speed out of the deal, but honestly I can't say I have ever been close to the top end speed possible out of todays sportbikes. I left the rear gearing stock and the improvement is very noticable without making a wheelie machine.

Well hell, I can't say I don't have the time for it.

You'll be good with that current setup, just don't hit up VIR Full unless you still have the stock sprocket. :moocow:

BTW, you keeping the silver link or are you putting in an order for the smurf version?

It's not going to be so easy to swap back and forth. The stock setup is a 525 chain and sprockets. The new setup is all 520 pitch. So to change back and forth its a whole change out. Still possible but I think I'll roll with this for a bit and see how it suits me.
