2013 racing plans
Thought I'd start a thread here to see who is doing what. Ian you plan on doing some CCS this year?
Besides the typical NJMP rounds I wanted to check with you about the VIR round in June (I know you've gone down to race that the last couple years). Me and Bob (and possibly a 3rd) have been tossing the idea around, actually we're pretty well set on it. June 15-16th are the CCS races, and the Friday right before is a TPM track day WITH GP Moto races to boot. We're planning to make a long weekend of it. Get some practice and racing in on Friday and be ready to rock on Saturday and Sunday. What do you think? |
Good to hear from you Kaz. I was actually contemplating on doing the whole Atlantic series, starting with CMP in April. Yes I'll even do the dreadful Loudon. I'll check the schedule in regards to VIR. I did not go last year but I've gone every other year to race. We have a project at work starting in June so it may be tough taking vacation days for that month. I'll get back to you about VIR. That will be an expensive weekend for sure.

Whole ATL series ehhh? :D
Yeah just fill me in when you have a better idea. |
Yes I want to make expert and I know for a fact I won't be able to get enough points just by doing Summit and NJMP alone.

What is CCS? Is it what you do after a number of track events like amateur/ pro racing for fun?!
|
Championship Cup Series..www.ccsracing.us. And yes it is amateur racing. If you can score enough points as an expert you can qualify for an AMA event.

Oh ok kewl are any of you guys going Pro? If so I'll come watch and cheer for you guys and say to the crowd..." I once road with that guy on a run years back! that one kid was real fast that one time forgot his handle one down five up maybe?! Billy and Joel kept up with him but I didn't even try to hard lol anyway good luck to ALL of you and be safe keep me posted!!!
|
I think the only members here that could qualify are Drew and Breeze. Although I hope to qualify one day I have lots to improve in my riding. Nevertheless its still a goal of mine to do an AMA race even if i come in last.
|
I understand! I went to Monterey three times in a row and saw all of them. What amazed me was how fast they corner. I basically walked around the track each year and got pretty close they're all very fast!!! :nod2:

to go pro at the ama level its pretty hard with there spec tires.
theres no way i could keep pace on those dunlops with the cost of racing , having a b bike, pit crew im happy just to race ccs and wera i have no ambition of doing an ama round unless i could get some real testig time on the tires. hey toy never know but its a top ten for me or whats the point dan heverly got a 7th at njmsp last year so its possible but i want to go there with a purpose and on my budget its just not fiseable this will be my last year doing trackdays im doing a limited number but decided to go racing full time. this year ill be running in the heavyweight and unlimited series on fully worked MDM gsxr 750.. once i get my pace to where ill be a solid top five every round im going to then switch to middleweight the middleweight classes are a bit more aggresive ..i think i got the aggresive part down, i wanna chase down those big bikes but try to get some clean laps im riding for METRIC DEVIL MOTO and PARTS CLUB racing is alot mental so just keep it fun.. if it gets overwhelming just take a break.... cakes said awhile ago...the track will always be there.. i took all last year off from racing i can say that where im at mentally and physically its so on..... FUZZY- man has it been awhile...kawboy up...lol lol hahahahaha IAN- see u out there watch for my rider j shep james shepard in your clasees i got this boy moving !!!!!! also u can go expert really ez.. just do the double point rounds.. ill be you in the paddock bro.. ant wait |

No matter how old you are....there will be someone older there No matter how brittle you are.....there will be someone more brittle there (there's a gentleman who rides with TPM who has no use of his legs and is lifted onto his bike) No matter how slow you think you are.....there will be someone slower there Just do it one time Fuzz so you can say you did it. THEN decide afterwards if you are too old/slow/brittle to continue ;) |
