Any smokers recently quit the habit?

I'm on day 2...the toughest thing is actually the habit/routine of just walking outside to have a cig...it's not that I want a cig...I'm just used to lighting up at certain times and while driving.

Sick of spending 5-7.00/pack every other day, sore chest feeling sometimes...and weird feeling I get I automatically think "omg...cancer" and the gross breath/smell once you're done with your cig.

Anyone else? How you doing?

if youre doing it cold turkey, the physical addiction to nicotine will be out of your system in 72 hours. so if its been 2 days w/o a cig, you have only 1 more day to go. congrats! after that it is just a matter of breaking the mental addiction and habitual associations you have with smoking which some consider to be the more difficult task. good luck...
the best thing to do is to try and recognize the things you associate smoking with and then find a replacement activity.

what kind of smoker are you? how many packs a day? how long have you been smoking?

I've been thinking about quitting and using the money to buy a new bicycle. But I like cigs to be honest. Plus I figure with all the bicycling I do it counteracts. lol

I quit...with the help of crystal (cuz she dont' smoke). I felt the same way. I quit a lot...i was up to a pack a day at a time..i just cold turkeyed..in all honesty...i may have one every once in a while (1 every few weeks or so). I do feel a huge difference in my breathing habbits. food taste different..but it didn't help with my diet...my appetite also sky rocketed...the new rule with no smoking in bars..helped a ton..

I've quit cold turkey before for 9 months...but someone offered me a cig and I thought "its only one cig"....next day I bought a pack...GGRRR.

I smoke probably a pack every 1-2 days...sick of buying them and just been worrying about the effects of smoking a lot lately. And you're right...its not that I want the cig for the nicotine...I just want something to do...I'm used to going out 2-3 times a day just to have a smoke...my body wants to go outside and chill. It felt good to sit down on the outside top floor and have a drag...relaxing.

yeah..at first i was worried about quitting cuz I thought the cigs raised metabolism to curb appatite...but its the fact that people replace smoking with eating and gain weight...nothing to do with not smoking the cig anymore. I have a lot I'm trying to accomplish at once! Finish losing the last 30-35lbs, not bite my nails anymore and now quitting smoking.

the only time i was successfully able to quit was with help of nicotine patches. They helped quite a bit. It was more of a mental thing to me. I just kept rubbing the patch to try to get more nicotine out of it when my friends were smoking. I'm sure it didn't help with me rubbing it, but def helped mentally. but then i started back up n i'm back to around a pack a day. i know its not good, but a cig for me is for me to have 5-7min to myself. My mind clears completely when i'm having a cig....

WTF is this supposed to mean?

BTW congrats to the quitters. You need support and you'll get it. NO MORE SMOKING!!!!!!Just think, cleaner teeth, nicer smelling breath (unless you have that disease), clothes won't stink, more money in your pocket, and your kissable (applies to Rev).

Try going out at the time you would to take a cig break and just breath some fresh air, try a new habit such as tooth picks of straw chewing just to keep your mind off of it.

Doesn't anyone watch Rescue Me
