July "ASS BUSTER" Ride

I mapped out an all day ride for one sunday in July. The ride is over 300 miles, 3 states, and 8-10 hrs. in the saddle. This is why I named it the Ass Buster. For those who can man up to this ride, the pace will be a constistant "moderate" pace. Too long of a ride to have straglers. As you can see by the link below, many, many twisties. I have 3 weekends in mind. Please, if you are interested, let me know what weekend suites you best. I will schedule the ride for the weekend with the most hits. Meet time, meet spot, and date TBD.

Moderate pace is usually speed limit +5-10. Faster blasts here & there. No ass draggers need apply. It aint a track day but we run a fun pace. Safety first. Besides we already have about 20 propects for this ride already, a roadrace it will not be. If you like to go balls out all the time you need not apply either.

Ride update,
Judging by overwhelming response, not just here, but from emails as well, the 12th and 26th win hands down. So, I have decided that we will go with the 12th as the primary ride date, with the 26th as the "rain date" if needed.So, make whatever plans you need to make and plan on the 12th. As the directions state, plan on being out ALL DAY. We will do 2 meet spots. Meet spot #1, 6:30am D&D in Washington NJ. Stands up at 7:00am SHARP!! Group 1 will meet group 2 at Hampton Diner in Newton at 8 am for quick breakfast.From there, we will be heading out on the ride. Figure rest stops around every 75-100 miles + stops for lunch & possibly dinner. Make sure you bring money,cell phone, camera, etc.
Make sure your bike is ready. Check oil, tire pressure, and all your lights,horns, guages BEFORE YOU SHOW UP. Any questions, feel free to contact me. Hope you all can make it. Just to confirm your plans to ride post up with an "In" or "Out", so I can keep an updated list, and if I need to designate a second lead rider, to split the group in 2, i can plan ahead. Incorporate - the following roads out of Bear Mtn

While 218 is nice north of West Point - 9W is better, faster sweepers over the mtn. After that there's nothing much - but as stated - need to stay away from Newburgh & the east side of Thruway area.

Thus I suggest -

9w to New Windsor - left 300, left 52 towards Walden, Right 17 (Fleury Rd), Right 7 (Bruynswick) - Left Rt. 44/55 over the Sawagunks. Where this ends @ 55/209 - Gas Stop right there - then east on 209, left Rt.3 up to Ashokan Resv. then the rest of ur route

I promise U that ur not missing anything on 9W north of Newburgh, except traffic, Hood Rats & PoPo.

I did a similar ride jeez 3 yrs ago, but went to Hancock NY, then down 191 - no need to go that far, it was about a 450 day for me that time.

Make sure that you AND your bike are prepared for the ride. Dont show up and then want to check tire pressures and chain tension. Have it done before you leave.Remember to bring your credentials, money, camera, rain gear, and what ever else you need to make a day of it on the bike.

Make sure you can legally leave the state....for all you criminal mother fuckers out there.

I left my house at 5:40 in the morning and did not get home until 7:30.. I have no idea how many miles as my speedo does not work. I bet it was just about 500 miles.

Brett update: He was back to work today. His wrist is still a little sore, but not enough to keep him from working out in the gym.He is contemplating bringing the bike to the shop so we can attemp to straighten it out so he can atleast ride the rest of the season. He knows what he did wrong and wants to go back and hit that turn again. He thanks everyone for their help & support. He had a great time.....for atleast 15 minutes!
