help me out with my 929

ok lately it has been making a funny noise when i strart off in 1st. the clutch is real worn to begin with because it grabs real late. but now when i accelerate it makes a sound that is like a little popping noise. could my chain be too tight? i just changed my tires so i had the back rim off, but i think the chain is at the right tension. any ideas?

check your sprocket to see if you have any unsual wear. When it pops, does the bike jump at all?

How much slack is in the chain? Should be minimum 1.5". Where does the poping noise sound like its coming from? Cush drive put back correctly?

see thats the thing, the bike doesnt jump like the chain is skipping. the sprockets all looked ok to me. it sounds like a too much tension thing, but if i move the chain around, it goes about an inch and a half. its weird. and it does sound like its coming from that general area.

What general area? Front or rear sprocket?

maybe a bad link in the chain.

Is the master link on correctly?

now im thinkin it might be a clutch thing because it seems to start doing it when the engine gets hot. i guess i better just bring it somewhere.
