Short and sweet:

Red is fast, DougZ is slow.

You get 100 times more critism in red than white....was pulled to he side by a coach half of the sessions.

Just touched the knee down a couple times.

Crashed, gently, after turn one in the grass...ran wide, target fixated, saw the grass, hit the grass, dumped bike in the grass. Only damage was broken shift lever.

Brian (Bowler) is the man.

Sounds like you couldn't have had a better "incident". Glad it went well for the most part -- criticism helps. :) It'll only make you faster in the end. Oh, and good thing you had the GSXR plastics on, right?

You find you're smoother and faster after putting your knee down?

You find you're smoother and faster after putting your knee down?

I only barely touched it down in one turn.....9 I think....and had to point it out to Jeff for him to see it. LOL

I got faster through the day, but still slow for that group. I don't think I nearly as smooth as I should be....I got a lot more days to go before I get smooth. I had a lot of coahces talk to me about my lines, which, when I was in white group..all I ever got was the thumbs up, so that was a little frustrating.

Honestly, I would say I have a long way to go before I am fast and smooth...but, I am getting there.

Sounds like it was a really good day full of learning tools for you Doug! You should be proud of yourself instead of frustrated! All the TPM Coaches want to see all us TPM members excel! That's what makes them so great and us better too ;)

Keep at it and soon you'll be where you need to be!!!

Looks like u got a knee down in my favorite corner, turn 11, right?:

http://www.teampromotion.com/trackinfo/pocono_both_map.jpg

So what sorts of advice did they give u? I'm hoping they get more explicit when I get out there in red as well.

So how much faster is Red? I'm hoping to be middle of the pack.

I road with some CF members over the wknd, nice guys, had a really nice time, but I would of traded with u in a second. I only hope the weather is just like this past wknd for the remainer of my trackdays! Picked a 2005 gsxr600 out of the weeds that was following me though.... :(

Jen: Thanks. :)

Bryce: Yeah, it was turn 11..that seems to be the easiest spot to get the knee down. I got some advice from another guy that was there, Brain "Stiffy" Pillaka. He was like" push really hard on the clip on until you touch your knee"....plain as that. LOL

The coaches were telling me that my lines were off. They basically were saying to run a lot closer to the edge of the track for the apex's, and instead of just having my head near the cones, actually make my tires near the cones, so the rest of my body would be over the grass or cone itself.

I started working on that later in the day and actually knocked the cone over in turn 2 a couple times.

Red is just faster....hard to say how much. I was certainly not very fast in white, but now, not at all fast in red, however, my speed did increase during the day.

Yo Doug, glad you got away with minor damage with yer get off...now as far as being fast, that'll come with time. Work on your lines...start stickin your marks...and the speed will come shortly right after. Took me like 4 days in red to finally make a pass...once I started passing, it boosted my confidence level. Theres a wide range of riders in red don't forget, theres riders just coming out of white...theres riders that are just about ready for blue...then theres riders in between. You can really learn alot in red...patients is virtue.

yeah, I hear ya Joe. I was very slow at the start of the day and was getting passed by everyone. Then, after getting talked to a couple times about lines and hitting the apexes, my lines started getting better and thus I got a bit faster. I was able to pass some people by the end of the day....LOL...it alwasy seem to be Ducati guys too.

It's not a track bike unless it has some damage on it. Congrats on the knee touching...that is a cool feeling.

Pocono was a blast. I am really starting the like that track now. Was running in the 1:12 range most of the day and finally broke in the high 1:11's last session. I was taking some different lines around the bumps, really got confident with the brakes and front tire traction.
