I recently picked up a Gear Position Indicator (GPI) for the TLS that simply uses 6 LED's. One of the nice features about this GPI is that it also incorporated a semi-active Timing Retard Eliminator (TRE) to circumvent the timing issues in 1st through 4th. Those timing issues also were the cause of low RPM stumbles on this bike but that's a different story.

I wanted to go with an OEM look to the install which meant looking at the gauge panel for placement. I figured the idiot light area would be a good place to start.

Start drilling...

Slide them in (if it were just that easy)...

Open it up for the wires...

Drill the screw hole out for the cable. I did this because it was the cables direct route in. Trying to get it though the access panel would have been a headache. I also flattened down some of the ridge that is there so the cable had more area to angle in.

What gear am I in?
1st, (http://www.mariposaderojo.com/Pics/TLS/GPI/GPI1st.jpg) 2nd, (http://www.mariposaderojo.com/Pics/TLS/GPI/GPI2nd.jpg) 3rd, (http://www.mariposaderojo.com/Pics/TLS/GPI/GPI3rd.jpg) 4th, (http://www.mariposaderojo.com/Pics/TLS/GPI/GPI4th.jpg) 5th, (http://www.mariposaderojo.com/Pics/TLS/GPI/GPI5th.jpg) 6th. And it always helps to have an extra set of hands around.

Can you dim the LEDs at all, that would suck to be crusing at night in top gear on the highway and have 6 LEDs shining at your face.

These ones were done by a guy over in Portugal (pedrodani). Unfortunately he stopped making them. Every now and then a used one comes up on TLZone but they are few and far between.

Install for the TLR.

I didn't want to cut the pink wire and tap into it (like I did on the TLS) so I disconnected it from the connector and wired in that way. The wires were soldered together and tapped up.

The GPI in neutral: Yes, I deliberately inverted it (most put first on the bottom). I think I may integrate into the display like I did with the TLS above.
