I suppose I'm a bit late in spreading the news over here... but one of our local racers lost control of his bike and hit an unprotected wall the day before our last race of the season.

Aaron Clark was hurt yesterday at PPIR (Pikes Peak International Raceway), suffering an accident in a fast but unusual part of the track for an accident. His brother-in-law Scott Jensen told me there was only about 45 feet to an unprotected wall where Aaron came to rest. It seems to be a single-vehicle accident without anyone else involved. Another racer was first to the scene and helped by performing CPR trackside until the medical team got there.

Aaron is in serious condition and his friends should think of him over the weekend. His wife Tedi and Scott are with him at the hospital and I will let them speak to any specifics of his condition, but I wanted to let his friends know that the ugly side of the sport has raised its head, and a good man is down - for now.

Aaron has come back from a serious accident he suffered while practicing on a motocross track some years ago. His generosity and good spirits when employed with Aprilia as their demo truck manager or in his current position as a motorcycle mechanic, meant he always met you with a smile. His competitiveness and drive on a motorcycle sets him apart in any paddock. Aaron has run with a Number One plate on his motorcycle many times, recently defending his title in Utah. His tenacity as a racer is only surpassed by his friendship.
