I'm kicking around idea that I might actually follow through with this time (I probably won't, but it's fun to think I will). I'm going to write a web application to accrue actual cost of living data for areas based on what regular people do, like eat Chinese food. This isn't for commercial purposes, just general knowledge sharing.
If you have a Chinese food menu at work or at home (or both), can you post the following info? I just want to gauge interest in people helping out and if the data is available.
Price of a qt. of Chicken w. Broccoli
Price of a qt. of Pork Fried Rice
Price of a qt. of Wonton Soup
zip code of restaurant
So basically something like
Chicken w. Broccoli: $7.95
Pork Fried Rice: $5.95
Wonton Soup: $2.65
Zipcode: 19012
I figure those are 3 really common items that every place will have. If your place doesn't have it, let me know and we'll try to find more commons items. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?
