gear-wearing vs. squid discussion. So who thinks it's cool to ride without gear and why?

You should never ride a wheel chair without the proper gear.

Ride how you feel comfortable riding be it full Dainese or wifebeater.

Fingerless gloves and a wheelie bar are required.

I am on the fence with this argument. Wear gear for sure when u r riding agresivelly. Local riding u can get away with no gear but at least jeans boots and gloves. I am definitely not a gear nazi :)

Honestly, I break the law everyday I ride my bike. I wouldn't consider myself a squid, when you are on a machine as capable as a modern sportbike, it is only natural to wring in out every once and a while. As far as street riding gear goes, I always wear jeans, (combat)boots, and gloves. Sometimes the gloves and T-shirt combo looks goofy, but the controls feel better that way for me. When it starts to get cooler, I'll throw on my leather jacket.

I never even leave my driveway without my helmet and gloves on. The vast majority of the time I wear my jacket, jeans and boots unless I'm just running up to the gas station which is only 3 blocks away. I laugh every time I see a guy on a bike without at least a helmet on.

I think whatever you can afford...seriously...

If you're a poor biker, wear whatever, but if you got money to burn, buy the best gear...bottom line, enjoy what you du because if a fuckin Mack truck hits you, you'll end up under the tires anyway....end of discussion. :biggthump

If you hit pavement at 30mph you will lose a layer of skin every inch you slide. You will lose your jeans at 6 1/8th inches.....I'll keep wearing my gear

I'd prefer to not wear gear... when I was younger and lived in a state that didn't require a helmet... I rarely wore any gear at all.

Now that I'm older and live in a state where helmets are required, I tend to wear more gear.

I typically go out in a helmet and either a mesh or leather jacket and boots. I will skip the gloves now and then.

If you're going thru the effort of gearing up why skip the gloves?

since i bought full leathers i feel obligated to get my moneys worth, so i wear them most times i leave my driveway. but funny thing, when i DO go out in just a jacket and jeans, i feel naked and super vulnerable.

I ride on the street fully covered. It may not be full jacket/riding pants but no short sleeves, shorts or without gloves or helmet. Usually high top sneakers.
At the track in the pits, shorts and a t-shirt.

I am a refeformed gear nazi... I almost always ride with boots, gloves and jacket, but I have to wear business casual for work, so I skimp on the pants, and although I am not happy about it, my commute is 10 miles at 630AM, on rt35, so traffic is light, and relatively slow...

last few weeks I have been more squidly than usual, even going out with shorts, a tshirt and sneaks, with no socks! :( i burned myself on a friends pipe doing that, so i learned my lesson.

i guess im a gear nazi. i have ridden without anything but running pants, sneakers and a wife beater. i wont do it again.

now i wear a joe rocket sonic (perforated) jacket, exo armor upper body, icon leg armor and fammz slide shorts. oh and boots, gloves and lid.

i crashed about a month ago at 50 or so and slid for a ways. i got up, started my bike, went home and watched the game...with a beer.

i dont mind if others dont wear gear, and i dont call people squids. ive done my share of "squidly" things.

when i take long rides i gear up, but if its just to school (5 min ride, cant go faster then 30, and im at a light pretty much every block) i just have my helmet and gloves. i cant ride without gloves i feel weird. and to be honest if it wasnt for gear i would be in pretty bad shape after saturday.

i used to wear shorts all the time until i cooked both my legs on my pipes(that shit hurts) every year i ride i tend to wear a little more gear , however i am in no way a Nazi about wearing gear if you just going down the street etc...but if your gonna be getting stupid or wheelieing etc....u better be wearing at least, jeans, jacket helmet and gloves.....i personally always wear boots, gloves, jeans, and helmet....depends on the temp. for me to wear a jacket
