So we need to put those outruigger things on our bikes so if we hit a bump in the road, almost highside or not, or kick it by accident, we get this thing popped around our neck, probably scaring the crap out of most people and THEN causing a crash.

No ourtigger things needed on the bike.

Unless Marco Simoncelli had some invisible ones on at Valencia last week

Oh.....I thought those were there to purposely lift and send the back end kicking out once he got the bike leaned over sufficiently. :)

"No mechanical connection exists between the bike and the rider i.e. no cord or tether. Insead, triggering of the system via an electronic transmitter and receiver. The transmitter is attached to the front fork and is triggered by a deceleration larger than 10 G's, typical in the case of the bike hitting another sizable object. This unit transmits a radio signal to the receiver in the vest that opens the gas generator valves."

I dunno, watching the video it looks like the front end goes from pointing forward to being skewed 90 degrees to the left and parallel to the ground pretty quickly.

I wonder if it comes in handy on a plane to use as one of those neck pillows.

All you need is this for a good neck pillow:

Men's Burton Sleeper Hoodie

No more crying babies, stiff neck, lost tickets, swampy arm pits or annoying flourescent lights in your face. Inflate the integrated neck pillow in the hood, pull down the hood’s light shield, crank up your new age mix or pop in your ear plugs, then pop some sleeping pills. Next stop nirvana. Travel as you know it will never be the same.

I did try this neck collar on when I fell at Summit main years ago but I found it very restrictive for looking through a turn. So I don't use it anymore.

Also Leeat makes a neck and collarbone protector that is more designed for sportbike riders.
