Thanks everyone. I can not wait to ride the thing. It will make its debuet at BeaveRun on August 4 and 5. Now I just have to change the numbers and remove a few decals and give it my own personal look.

I "THINK" it dropped a valve. Or a piston got fugged!

Hey Greg,
Yes, it was Jays bike.
It appears that it dropped a valve and may have also put a hole in the piston. When I drained the oil there was the very unwanted metal in the pan and on the magnet on the drain plug. You can also see the valve blocking the hole in the head where the spark plug goes. Working on getting it back together for Summit next monday.

Ouch, any idea what caused this?

It appears that the valve keepers either broke or came out allowing the valve to slide out and come in contact with the piston on cylinder # 2. No way to tell for sure until the engine is dissassembled.

Put a new to me engine in the bike last night and got her fired up. Just have a few more things to go over but the bike should be fine for Summit this coming monday on the 20th. Now to get the other engine rebuilt.

Hopefully the rebuild will be on the guy that built the engine.

Not that this helps but this is apparently a common thing with gixxer valve retainers. The legion of doom endurance team had lots of problems that they detailed in the roadracing world mag.

you have to show me which mag meaning month and year and page, because the 1 i read just last week had articles on racing with no problems on stock gixxers.

this is false advertisement then and i am suing :D

Second new engine installed last night. The last one was no good, oil burner. I am going to fill with fluids tonight and hope all is good. See everyone at VIR at the end of next month.

Thanks Joe,
Nope, nothing got worked out with the other one as the guy f&*ked me on this. He can go to hell for all I care and I guess he will need to make a list like Earl for his Karma.

Once I am sure that thing is good which it should be because I got it from someone who is reputable I will install the other goodies I got to go along with it. I picked up a yoyodyne slipper cluthc, brembo master cyllinder with folding lever and few other items. I was at his shop while he was putting the worked head on it and degreeing the cams on Wednesday.
