I have a friend who's in the Middle East on his 3rd tour. He's been to Afghanistan and Iraq when he was with the Marines and he's there now as a contractor. I ask him why he keeps going back and he can't give me a straight answer. I think he really likes it out there.

It's amazing how much responsibility he has over there in everything he does and gets to play with toys we'll never have a chance to use. I'm glad he's okay and kicking ass, I'm sure when he gets back he'll be very happy to be home and bored as shit too after everything he's been thru, he'll be on a bike soon enough after that.

My brother just IM'd me and said he was driving around base today and saw a banner for a 5k run with a marine in full uniform on it so he stopped to check it out. Yeah, it's a picture of him. The exact picture they used in the above article. He going to ask around tomorrow and see what it's about. Hopefully he'll snap a photo too. A picture of a picture of him. Spooky.

He's actually back already. He's stationed at some base near Jacksonville, NC until he gets his next orders.

My best bud Scott just got back last month, he's a ARMY 1st Sargent/Medic, and his 15 months are done. I've already heard many of his situations that happened outside the wire over there and it was shocking to say the least, I'm glad he's back home and safe.
