Is that like touring, on a sportbike?

I'm planning on taking the GSXR for a long haul. As in, upstate NY to Seattle, down to Utah, and some other cool places, then all the way back home to sweet ol' NJ. I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience going cross country, advice, suggestions, etc. Also...if anyone wants to go. This trip is going to crazy. Leaving August 2?ish.

I'm not planning on using lofty accomodations. As in, I'm packing a tent and some bare essentials. A mess kit, change of clothes. I'm planning on winging everything.

My friends band is doing a full US tour around the same time, so I might go as a trailer to that and party across every state. This would provide relative shelter and places to stay. Anyone nuts enough is welcome to join me. The more the merrier. Holler back.

Haha, some trash bags are in line.

And yeah. That ice cold rain was miserable, but we still had fun!

I would really not recommend trash bags for such a long trip.

I'd love to go, but I have a job. :P

Id suggest a nice tank bag to lean on, I know you are young and should be in much better physical condition than myself, but that many miles on a sportbike is a lot, for anybody

Have fun and good luck!

be sure to set aside a lot of cash for a chiropractor and an orthopedic surgeon, for your eventual spinal adjustments and carpal tunnel surgery. Christ! I dunno if I'd do that trip on my Beemer, let alone on my GSXR. You're either very brave or very stupid; either way, my hat's off to you!
Cheers, :drink:

you know.the funny thing is that when i read this i was actually thinking about it....since i'm quitting my current job by mid july n not starting till august 20th...but then i almost forgot how painful it was after 6-8 hours on my bike.....the amount ur gonna ride is gonna be ridiculous.....you might have to invest in ass-cheek implants after this ride....but goodluck????

If you plan any long trips on a bike, MAKE SURE you have a tire repair kit (or two) with you.

I have a BMW kit in my RC, my GSXR and the wifes GSXR......don't leave home without one!!

If you are serious, you should go check out advrider.com
Those guys over there do some serious touring and can recommend places to camp/routes to take and gear advice.
Good luck and take lots of pics.

Well, unfortunately, its not looking like my trip is happening. Two days ago I had a nice sized hole poked in my right elbow, allowing steady drainage of the obnoxious quantity of really nasty shit building up in my severely infected elbow/forearm. I've been instructed not to ride motorcycles/go fishing/go swimming/do anything awesome for a little while. Don't know how it happened, but my elbow started to swell up and my quack doctor just kept saying "if it gets worse come back and see me". Well sure enough, after over a month of that BS, it got obnoxiously sore and swollen and I went to a specialist who basically took a slight glance at it and told me I have a severe infection spreading throughout my arm. So I'm out of commission temporarily. Good news is..I'm still taking a trip, I'm just relegated to the steel cage. So now it's looking like spring time for a bike run...Thanks for all the advice guys..
