For a while i have been using www.phonezoo.com to get my ring tones to my vzw cell phone. Don't feel like paying verizon for there ringers.

My question is: Is there a program out there where i can take 20 second clips off of my existing songs, or radio things i have and make it into a ring tone?

What kind of verizon phone do you have?
Motorola makes a program called phonetools which you can find on Kazza... then you need to unlock your phone to add mp3's to it.
If you have a razr is really easy. I hacked mine.

Nick Motorola phone tools lets you do that. It has a built in mp3 editor for clipping music sections into ringtones.

I am not familiar with the LG you have specifically but just about every phone has a way to get ringtones on it without paying.

If none of the information in this thread has been helpful I can look into it for you when I return to work monday, I am working for VZW now. :)

Depending on phone features, you may need a data cable. Some phones will let you receive a music "txt" message and then save it as a ringtone. So I can put the file on my phone and then send it to you. Some phones will support MP3 files natively, others you need to convert first...

Verizon locked down the razr so you had to unlock it before you could move data from your computer over to the phone. They wanted you to pay for all the ringtones while other carriers,at least cingular, allowed users to take advantage of it. All you need is the software and the data cable.

Typically vzw locks down transfers via bluetooth, I am not aware of any of their phones that are locked down if you use a data cable, but I am sure they exist, and ive only used a handful of their sets so far, but that seems to be the trend.

I have an old sch-a670 (or 680 i forget) for example that I can transfer tunes to just fine with a data cable. There are workarounds for most phones, I am just not familiar with that model... Sending the file as a txt (mms) works for some phones, as they give you the option to "save as ringtone".
