another thing...at this rate if the weather continues like this it may be a wee bit cold to ride.

i thought the same but, since im only going for the ride, its the bike or the cage either way im good. but weather will start to get better.

with these things it has usually been cold in the morning but clears up and better in the afternoons, i think i have done this 5 or 6 times now.

Ah no good. That's a zillion miles in the other direction from me. I'm about 15 mins east of Flemington, I'm probably just going to hop on 31 there and ride it right up. Or if the weather is nice, take the scenic/twisty route through Branchburg/Stanton/Lebanon and hop on 78 to 31 from there. If anyone is local for that, holler at me!

i definitely wanna go but i think my fork seals need replacing so I'm guessing that its useless to get this done, considering i don't know what that even entails doing

That depends on how long you plan on waiting to replace the seals. If you're doing so ASAP then it will be a waste of time and money, but if the seals aren't that bad and you plan on waiting a while then get the suspension adjusted anway. They'll adjust the preload, compression and rebound for the front and rear.

Exit 28. Then take the first right off exit. At the bottom off ramp (not really a ramp) make a left this will take you under the road you just made a right off of and follow the jughandle. Continue in the right lane and get on Rt 10. You will be a Toyota dealer right before Cliff's on your left. Take the jughandle (Jack Trebour Suzuki and carwash) on the right and get on 10 west to get to Cliffs.

It is 3 buildings west of Jack Trebour Suzuki.

I highly suggest for any of you that are riding on old unserviced forks and shocks to take care of that first.

I just got in from taking the first real ride since I rebuild my forks and threw in a brand new OEM shock (10K miles or so on them previously) and let me tell you, sometimes you can really take for granted how far the performance can degrade as your suspension fluid gets polluted.

Dump that oil dirty oil

Just got off the phone with ron from WCW. I asked what it costs to fork me, he said that it's probably not worth it and I won't feel a crazy difference on street driving. He told me to save the money for something else because He would just take apart the shock completley and do it the right way. He does enough bikes that have 15-20k miles on the forks and the fluid still comes out still looking good. i'll take his advice for now and probably do it next year. I'll stick to my forks for now...Just gonna do my brake change.

Whatever you are comfortable with. Even the service manual on most bikes tells you to dump the oil at about 7500 miles or at least every 24 months, just because the oil doesn't look filthy doesn't mean there isn't crud sitting in the bottom of the forks clogging the comp. valving stacks.

Suprised he would tell you to wait until almost 20K to service your forks, I certainly wouldn't. Maybe in an old style damper rod fork from the 80's, or the crap they put on Hardley's. But modern streetbike cartridge forks are much more intricate, I definately wouldn't wait that long. But again, it's your bike and whatever you feel comfortable with, it's not really that difficult of a job to do on your own either. Only requires a handful of tools and maybe 2-3 hours.

FYI, it's not just about feeling a performance improvement. Having that debris continuously operating in your suspension fluid will prematurely wear it out. Think about engine oil, the manual says you can get away with like 6000 miles and replacing the oil filter at every other oil change..........how many people actually do that?

You have a lot of valid points, i myself feel comfy to service them now before this riding season. Ugh...i'll do some more reading. Maybe I'll be able to do them myself.

ok

Here's a whole bunch of info about your specific fork right here.

http://www.peterverdonedesigns.com/05fork.htm

Here's a fiche too

http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_0426/front_fork_05/front_fork_05.bmp

I'm not sure what your level of mechanical skill is, but I would honestly recommend you to put fresh seals in while you have the fork apart as Honda OEM seals don't tend to last too long beyond 10K miles. So I dunno, thinking about it, maybe it's not something you want to mess with. But I can tell you for sure DON'T wait until 15-20K miles to do this work. I respect the guy from WCW's experience, but that is not sound advice.

wow, the weather report said 70% chance of rain. so instead of riding, i headed out to the golf driving range & the local pub - it didn't rain until 7:30pm. i've been drinking since 2pm so i'm going to bed now...

yo rev...you know i'm mechanically inclined....i'll do your brakes as long as i don't have to bleed them. Which i shouldn't considering i'm not changing the fluid....But it'll cost you a day playing paintball with me...-= 0

Bloody hell. I was expecting it to rain and ended up making other plans. I did go for a bit of a ride though which was good, just nowhere near WCW. I'll try to get there for the "rain" day, no doubt it'll bloody rain on the 31st. Thanks for organizing anyway.

Yea, I'll put your name back on the list in standby, but you won't have a problem, it'll definitely get done :nod2:

Thanks Joe, funny I got the tires done and sprocket so I am ready.
Fucked up cause I was playing with the shifter to try to reverse it but I can't even though it's after market rear sets. I guess I would need a different shift knuckle to do it.
But anyway, I drive out there, 20 minutes away I decide it's a good time to get gas since I was under E.....to my shock, disappointment and every other feeling in the world...I went to reach for my wallet and it WASN'T THERE:ohmygod: :ohmygod:
I left it home. So I called Ron and asked if he can do them still IF I make it with no gas. He says yea, and will tack on 20 bucks to the bill so I can get gas to get home.
So later My G/F gets home and calls my CC number in to me and got it done.

Fucked me up cause I so was in a rush and forgot that home lol
What an ass:lol:

i know nothing of suspension setup (that why i'm having the pros do it).

how should i prepare?

. set tire pressure?

. full tank of gas? (1 us gal = approx 6lbs) full tank weighs about 25lbs

. have a good morning bm? (that's good for at least a couple of lbs)

:moocow:

They'll double check your psi. Wear whatever gear when you normally ride, if its the track bike, and you don't want to wear full leathers, they'll throw another jacket over the tank for more weight. A good amount of fuel is good to.

good seeing you all again, havent seen many of you in a while to. unfortunately i dont know how my bike will handle because its not registered or insured and couldnt take the track bike for a spin, although i thought about it lol, but i trust their judgement.

Rons a great guy, helped me fit into a suit instead of selling me just any suit. wound up picking up the Spidi Hydroback. i thought they were joking when they said i can put a water bottle in there until i went to register the suit on line for my numbers and name to come in.

Was a good day. I hope everyone who got their stuff done is happy with the outcome. Seems like just about everyone's reaction was "It feels like a whole new bike." Thanks again to all who made it out. For those still on the list and couldn't make it for whatever reason, should of let us know. When I set this up with Ron/WCW, he basically closes out the service area for the day and does suspensions all day for us. Same with being late. We set up 9:30(thanks to causeofconcern, Marker01, and their friend for being on time) so thats when WCW was ready to start cranking out the suspensions...if no one shows up till almost 11(unless you stated you'd be late,) thats an hour and a 1/2 that they can be doing other work...just a little consideration is all guys.

And a big thanks to WCW...Ron, Papa John, EJ, and Mark Perez for everything :ride:

Thanks Joey for setting it up, although I understand your point of everyone not being on time, I thought there should have been some set up for a ride there like previous years, so it was basically everyone on their own type of thing.
That not only being the case, it's always like that when you get 10 people in, and only 4 show up. Buncha kids I guess lol.

Anyway, it was so good to see everyone combined together as a motorcycle family should.
I think Ron was happy after all when Darryls groups showed up to help fill in the void of bikes that didn't show up.

I cannot believe how out of whack my shit was, I jsut did it like 1000 miles ago and all of the sudden it was all out. I did fill the tank this time so that extra weight may have threw it off along with the new tires??
Don't know, they didn't know either, but it turns in again like a feather rather than trying to drop a tank into a turn.

You da man Joe:nod2:

oh and i guess I'll put some pics here then
