I don't know how many of you backup your computers, but I seriously advise it. Newegg has a great deal on a lacie external drive, 320 gig with usb 2.0/firewire 400/firewire 800. So basically it will work on any machine. I haven't found a comparable drive for the same price (with firewire 800, not all machines support) and this will be my 4th lacie, I definitely trust them. Thought I'd just pass this along since I just ordered one and have been looking for this drive to be on sale for a while.

That is a great deal...talk about a lot of eggs in one basket though.

I'll be using this to mirror my laptop weekly on account of the firewire 800. I'm also going to redundantly mirror my other external data drive just because I have the room. Better than loosing 160 gigs like I did 2 years ago :(

If you only need usb 2.0, there are a lot better deals out there. Like Cavalry 200GB USB 2.0 (http://www.buy.com/prod/Cavalry_200GB_USB_2_0_7200RPM_External_Hard_Drive/q/loc/58207/204143288.html?adid=17662), but I wanted FW800 which was tough to find in a decent sive drive under $200.

I gave the free 2 gig account a try this weekend and ended up buying the unlimited account this morning. For $55 a year you can't go wrong with off site, unlimited backup. Everything worked great for me out of the box. I have a really fast connection so I'm uploading 1.0 Mb/s, but I also have 120 gigs of data to backup so the initial upload is going to take a day or so. But after that it's a "difference" backup so that only files that changed have to get transmitted for that backup.

I recommend at least signing up for the free 2 gig account if you're looking to back up some photos or documents. It's not a trial account, it's a full version but with a 2 gig limit.
