I was browsing through some files on my computer and came across this pic of myself, taken early April in 05', it was my 7th trackday ever, 3rd of the season. Turn 5 at VIR North.

Later that day I locked up my front tire or bottomed out the forks under hard braking and crashed before going into turn 1.

You should have seen the tow truck, it was even older then the ghostbusters mobile.
This was east course was just access roads from that amblance and tow trucks and for fans to get around the infield on. We used part the old inside oval that was there for the orignal FUSA turn1. We used to use the a hairpin turn that is where the nascar rocks are to then out onto the north course.

Actually the only new pavement was in the late 80's when put in Turn 1 and 2 for the FUSA track because of the paddock changes that started back then. Besided the cement patches on the north side no new pavement has been down since 1984. Wait they did add pavement on the east side between turn 3 and the hairpin for the nascar karts.
We had talked with Pocono about putting pavement to the inside of the wall along the east course straight, with a series of turns and a short straight. This way they could still use the oval or the FUSA track while the east was in use, but you can see where that went.
