A New Years ride for us crazies!

What better way to bring in 2007 than on your bike!

Did one 2 years ago and the weather was great (until the sun went down)

I actually intend to do the ride on SATURDAY DECEMBER 30th, so you guys can drink like fish on the 31st. :)

Destination/route not yet picked, but I am open to suggestions.

Just throwing this out there now so you can mark it on your calendar!

EDIT 12/15/06: Ok, sorry for the delay in getting more details up... I figure about 10AM should work, and meet up at the Liberty Corner Exit on rt 78 (I believe this is exit 33).

i'm in so long as I can find a toasty set of gloves and weather permitting. New rider here, so heavy salt conditions, wet, ice, snow, etc don't play well to me yet.

Otherwise, cold makes no difference, I'm slow anyway

I really dont know the area well, so if somebody has some suggestions on routes or wants to lead, please do. I just really just wanted to throw out the idea of a new years ride far enough in advance so people can plan for it. :)

:2cents: Jeff, this looks like a great way to start, I dontknow all the roads personally, but that area covers the Basking Ridge, Far Hills and Watchung Mountain ranges, nothing crazy, but there are definetly some nice roads to hit.

Hoping somebody else will chime in with some roads. (HINT HINT ) :) I only expect to be riding until about 2 to give people time to get home before the sun sets. Got stuck out there after dark 2 years ago and damn it was cold! :)

Hopefully my insurance situation will be cleared up before then, too. ;)

you referring to Watchung Reservations right off 22 or else where.? they repaved Watchung to, roads are a lot better there.

im only 10 minutes from there and we usually go to Basking Ridge, Far Hills, Hillsborough, sometimes we hit some back roads in Bridgewater to.

C'mon somebody must know some good roads or want to lead for this thing? :) i will if I have to, but most of you have been on my rides, and I tend to get lost often ;)

As for all you ladies that have been crying about your privates shriveling.... Shame on you! Riding at 40+ isnt that bad, at all... On the highway it sucks, but we arent going to be doing triple digits on backroads this time of year with the roads in potentially bad shape. And with the way temps have been as of late, who knows what its going to be like!

Any suggestions for eats in the Somerset/Bridgewater area would be nice, too :)

Exactly!

Temps tomorrow are expected to hit a high of about 48! It will be considerably cooler in the morning when you leave for the ride, and for the ride home, so dress appropriately. :)
