Just a heads up, I stayed at the Stratford Inn in Danville over the weekend while I went to VIR. The place is just trouble waiting to happen. I had stayed there because they accept pets for an additional $10 fee.
It was a busy weekend, lots of people coming and going, didn't seem too much out of the ordinary.
I stayed in town Monday night to get some rest and avoid the holiday weekend traffic going back North.
Monday night, all that came into the hotel parking lot were people looking to score drugs. All night long, every few minutes someone came into the hotel parking lot, music booming and lots of thugs creeping around.
I called the local PD, let them know about the problem. I just had to keep getting up all night long to check on my car and bikes. Not much in the way of sleep.

Next time I am in Danville, I will be seeking a room at VIR's hotel since I heard they will take in my dog. Maybe I will also score some sleep.

FYI

I stayed at the Holiday Inn last November and it was nice. I stayed at the Innkeeper last Memorial day weekend, and it was nice, but Holiday Inn was nicer (newer), seems to be in a slightly better area, but its about $10 more... I camped this time and last July and I probably wont be doing that again at VIR...

I will probably just stay at the lodge at the track next time as well.. Or the suites...

+1 for the new "Hospitality Suites" above the new garages
in the North Paddock. Two beds, and room for a third if
you wish, a small refridgerator, sink and microwave;
one cup coffee maker with coffee, milk, powdered creamer,
and sugar supplied; a couple apples, cheerioes,
and muffins are all included to start your day.

There is a large bathroom with a shower, internet access,
telephone with a direct number (These were not working yet);
a large flat screen TV on the wall with SPEED Channel.
It was great to have an air conditioned room to hang out
in between sessions, and we had a great view of the first
half of the front straight from "Hog Pen" to the finish line.

You can even rent one of the garages below the suites if you wish.
I did and I'll definately do this again.
I loved the convenience and if you split the cost between
2-3 (or more) people it's very easy to justify.

The sound of a bike warming up is a fine way to wake up in the morning...

There are always good times at the innkeeper.

2 years ago got there at 2am sat night. All the local kiddies were there for prom night. Lots of kids running around making noise, yelling and driving around the parking lot with loud ass subs pounding. A few called us "rednecks". Later that night I heard some popping sounds, thought it was fireworks. The next morning we found 9mm bullet cases in the parking lot!

Last year nothing.

This time there was a domestic dispute in the parking lot monday sunday morning! With two cops!

The local cops did respond, and they spent a while in the area. Uniforms only slowed the business for the dealers camped at the hotel. When I left at 4AM, there were new customers there since the cops left sometime afterwards.
