Had the SV1000 on the dyno, #'s we felt were a tad low, but being completely stock was expected. Stock exhaust system really hold back some hp. Ron said to definitly get some slip ons cause this bike needs to breath. Result as is was 113hp. The torque side of the bike is real good, as expected from the twin's 500cc cyl's. Producing almost 60 ft. lbs. @ 3500 rpm and topping out at 71 ft. lbs. @ approx 7300 rpm. Definitely have to start savin for some pipes.

Pic1- red=all gear run, green=4th gear roll on
Pic2- black=torque, green=4th gear roll on

I bet you aren't complaining for stock. :P

The HP might be a bit low, but more importantly it's very smooth all the way thru the tach.

The power isn't low at all for Suzuki's sport twin. It's right on par with the later TLS's in fact!

I really need to get off my arse and travel the two blocks to get my TL's dyno'd. :banghead:

still higher than my duc's 108 (and it's a 996-motor).

What grade gas you runnin Cakes?? I only got 110 HP's at WCW when they did mine, and that was on Sunoco 93. I got the same exact torque though.

87, once in a while I'll put in 89. You don't need 93. I used to use Ultra 94 in the gix, when I dropped to 87 I could tell the bike was definitely more responsive.

I'll have to try switching to regular and see what it does for me, besides save some coinage.

the difference between your 110 and his 113 is not even 3% var. there are lots of variables that could easily cause that difference. The #1 reason would be mass production related.

Running the 93 doesn't do you any benefits though... If you're gonna try it again clean and re-gap your plugs and you should go over cakes's 113.

(take your airfilter out and you should also see a gain (dyno testing secret to over inflat results))

Cakes, I'll dyno my '03 when I put the pipes on -- maybe we'll do a WCW run.

actually it's smooth probably cuz he throttled it with ease...if he pinned it you would see the line jump almost straight up to the peak horsepower...with every line drop is where he shifted...The smoothness of the line going up really has nothing to do with performance... :nod2:

Both. 2nd gear was the tire, 4th was a lazy clutch with to much revs

No throttling with ease with dyno runs, its WOT.

"Smooth" and "ease" are what it's all about on sportbikes be it on the dyno, road, or track, smooth is fast, and ease is steady with braking, handling, and acceleration.

The straighter/evenly curved the line is on the horsepower and torque charts the better, it indicates a well tuned fuel/powerplant system. Any dips in the line aside from the shift points would indicate a weak spot that robs the bike of performance at that particular point in time, but that can be fixed with further tuning.
