Looks like those pics are near to if not actual size, makes for a nice carry piece, I'd take that over a .40 any day for stopping power.

Dude, have you shot a short 1911 yet? My brother has a 4" and that's the shortest I'd go in a 1911 .45. I'm getting a full 5" when I pick mine up, and I'm going to get a polymer .40 for my compact. But if you got a sweet deal on it...you can never have to many guns.

no, I'm going to get a usp. Does the XD have a decoker? I haven't looked in a while, but when I was in the market one of them I looked at didn't have a decocker, that's a no sale on a compact for me. But I don't remember what gun it was. Also, I dont want that palm saftey on a compact either.

No, neither does the glocks, but there are some with internal hammers that do have a decocking feature.

Something I've always wanted to get into as well...pops has a couple that haven't been used in 25 years. Nice 12g for skeet and a .22 for target...the .22 is heavy as hell, got these weights along the top(for whatever reason)...I really want to go to a range :nod2:

Those weights are to keep it steady and balanced for target shooting. ;)

Nice lookin piece but I am not a fan of Springfield pistols. I know it is bulky but I will stick with my Glock 21 (.45) or Sig Pro 2022 (9mm) as my carry weapon.

we'll all have to plan a day when it gets warmer to go out to PA for a day to sunset hill. 10 bucks a day.....10am to 5 pm. Centerfire, muzzleloader, trap, handgun, highpower, etc etc. they allow it all.

I've got my brand new XD .45 ACP cocked and loaded in my room... ive had it for a few weeks and shot over 800 rounds and it fatigues my body pretty bad.
American eagle is the only .45 that works well with the gun, all the other shit jams my gun.

funny you say that. I shot 100 rounds of winchester .45 FMJ acp and 50 rounds of remington .45 FMJ acp....both jammed every 10 rounds or so. I brought it to a gunsmith yesterday, left it with him. He then told me it would be around 6 weeks to polish the feeding ramp. I told him to hold off I would be back tomorrow (today). Im going to buy a box of american eagle and give it a try tonight. Ive got two boxes of hornady TAP personal defense on the way. hope that dosnt jam. I may take some emory cloth and polish the ramp up a little myself as per someones reccomendation.

as far as recoil. it does have a fair amount but i wouldnt say it fatigues me. and mine only has a 3.5" barrel. It is ported though.

well so far ive shot federal american eagle, remington, and winchester and found the federal to be the best/least expensive. less jams compared to the rem and win. got two boxes of hornady TAP personal defense .45 ACP +P this morning. I'll shoot a few soon and see if the +p helps cycle the slide better.
