Venturing away from tight and technical Pocono Intl. Raceway this year for tracks with longer straights and higher corner speeds (VIR North...South...Patriot, Beaver Run, Summit Main, Shannonville...Nelson...Long (Canada))

My sv is naked, but I still have the rear bodywork and pillon seat attached. I figure I can sell the rear stock bodywork as well as drop the passenger seat to lose weight. Questions:

-Would I gain much MPH on back straight from adding front and rear bodywork or save $ for more important things at this point?

-Even with no front bodywork, would a rear race tail be worth it if I sold stock setup?

-Will any normal trackday organization have a problem with running with no rear tail?

thx.

can help u with the track questions but some thing to note . the sv1000 naked runs the 1/4 faster then the sv1000s does some thing like 11.20 naked and 11.90 half fairing around 122 125mph so i dont thing the fairing would help up to or around 130mph mark .maybe if u can find some info on the sv1000sv the full fairing sv1000 limited 1 . some thing to keep in mind thow the sv1000n is 15lbs lighter then the sv1000s .hope this helps u some .good luck

I think that's because the sv1000 has 17/40 vs. sv1000s has 17/28 standard gearing. Same type of thing with the SV650 vs. SV650s....S has higher gearing.

The tail if its a race style is probably the most important. The upper would be the 2nd most. The lowers are billboards.

Long straits and sv's just don't go hand in hand...The back strait at Mosport is the worst :ohmygod: Just work on getting that killer drive out of the turn. Tony B. worked with me on executing T-10 at Summit...what a difference getting that drive makes. I've passed people there only to never see them again.

when I had no upper, the end of long straights would make my head bobble. but due keep in mind I have a pencil neck.

Naturally, air flows much easier over a fully faired bike than a naked one...turbulence is horrible at mid to hight speeds on a naked bike.

My eyes water at the back of the PIR East with no fairing hehe. Not to worry, bodywork on its way...just gotta see how bad it will be to mount 03+ SV650 bodywork on my 99-02 *gulp*

CBR Bob- R u saying, not worth mounting the bottom fairing? Would be easier for me for sure to leave it off if it didn't provide any benefit and just added weight.

If it's a pain, leave it off. 95% of the gains are from the tail and upper anyway.
